LA SCALA THEATRE MUSEUM

Admission to La Scala theatre museum allow you to see the interior of the Theatre from the third-level boxes. But only if rehearsals or performances are not in progress.

La Scala Theatre was inaugurated on 3rd August 1778, after the Ducal Theatre was destroyed in a fire. During those time the theatre was a place of leisure for noblemen who financed the construction, and the boxes of the theatre were private-property in which they did everything!
The museum opened in 1913 and contains ancient musical instruments, a collection of ceramics, theatre games and objets, paintings and portraits of the most important ballerinas, musicians and singers, such as Giuseppe Verdi, Toscanini, Maria Callas.
A special section is dedicated to Verdi's relics and memories.
